Howdy, the most important thing to know about me, yes, even before my name, is that I’m from MT. It’s the best state in the whole wide world! My name is Karen Bingham and I am from Missoula, MT. I graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) McKay School of Education. I’ve taught in UT and MT in grades K, 1st, 4th, and I spent a year as an elementary librarian. I moved to MA to go to Simmons College. I am a full time nanny and a part time student. I have a cockatiel named Sergio and I am fluent in Spanish – though I’m as gringa as they get. I LOVE to read, cook, travel, learn languages, meet new people, teach, and laugh. There you have me in a nutshell.
There’s been a lot of talk lately of budget cuts, library funding cuts, and library closings. It is a tense time in the history of libraries. Librarians from around the state are always posting questions and their fellow librarians from all over can post [...]

When I first moved to Boston I was getting back on my feet from an unfortunate divorce. My emotions were still quite near the surface (I can’t tell you how many boxes of tissues I went through… I should have bought stock in a certain tissue company). I was an elementary school teacher at that [...]
Like I mentioned before, did I mention it before?? Well, if not, here goes… I am a proud (and loud) lover of libraries from the wide open skies of Montana. I grew up there enjoying the mountains and open space. One of the things I had to get used to when I moved here to [...]

Who has a favorite teacher? Or, maybe a favorite librarian? “Me, me!! Pick me!!!” you say. Well, okay, tell me about your favorite librarian: “She knew where all the GOOD books were!” – Amy M. “She used to buy the books that I wanted…like I had my own special fund or something! Plus, she always [...]
