Jr. Information Architect – Vocabulary Manager, San Jose, CA
Contract: 6+ months (renewed quarterly)
Location: San Jose, CA
Vocabulary Manager: Information Architecture more junior
Job Description:
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Mainly work with Client’s Web Marketing in establishing information
architecture and governance
This requires managing day-to-day product and solutions taxonomies,
vocabulary database, process & governance
Governance and tool are in place need to review requests for changes as they come,
A strong understanding of product taxonomies aka Product and Solution
hierarchies or vocabularies is required
Thorough understanding of user centric web publishing strategies and
systems, design of user centric web presence is needed
Work involves intensive involvement with Client Product Management,
Product, Solution & Web Marketing teams
Daily activities include, but are not limited to:
Review and approve User Access (User Profiles)
Review and approve taxonomy/vocabulary changes (Products & Solutions)
Train & assist Vocabulary management application users
Provide assistance for new products & solution placement on the web
Provide support for vocabulary issues, manage escalations (24 hr turnaround)
Work with Client’s IT teams for support & development
Coordinate major vocabulary changes (Acquisitions, Product/Solution
hierarchy changes, New Market Segmentations etc)
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of library sciences; creating product taxonomies &
vocabularies
Strong knowledge of site design; web information architectures, web
publishing systems (Web Publisher preferred)
Working knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices
A good understanding of Product naming & branding standards.
A good understanding of Products & Solutions
Education Requirements:
BA or BS in the following: Library and Information Science, Computer
Science, Human Computer Interaction, Information Sciences, Marketing,
Industrial Design, or a related area
Professional and Personal Skills
Exceptional communication skills
Good leadership and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented
Comfortable in a fast-pace environment
Experience Needed:
2-5 years relevant work experience
Experience creating or managing product taxonomies & vocabularies
Experience working on large, complex web sites
Experience in coordinating large scale projects
