HOURS OF WORK: Part-time (20 hours per week)
Includes some evenings and weekends. 

STARTING WAGE: $15.35 to $18.16 per hour depending on education and experience.

JOB GRADE: Grade 4

PRIMARY DUTIES
Reports to the Teen Librarian. Assists with library services to teens. Circulates library materials to customers using an automated system. Answers telephone calls and e-mails. Plans and executes programs for teens and tweens. Assists with outreach to the community thru school orientations, community events, and the library’s online presence including contributions to the blog, social media outlets and other web based technologies. Creates special displays to promote teen services. Provides assistance to teens using computers in the teen services area. Shelves materials and carries out clerical tasks as needed. Participates in collection development and management. Works with other staff to ensure that customers have a positive experience while in the library. Processes materials added to the teen collection. Must stay abreast of new trends in teen services. Performs other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and some previous paid library experience. Must enjoy working with teens and have an understanding of teen behaviors. Knowledge of teen literature is a plus. A facility with library computer use, including the Internet, social media and social networking as well as Microsoft Office software is also required. Must be well organized, outgoing and able to get along well with others. Must express oneself clearly, concisely and pleasantly in the English language and be comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Must be able to learn new skills quickly, handle situations with tact and courtesy, possess initiative, be resourceful and be able to work cooperatively as a team member as well as independently. The ability to work with a diverse public in a fast-paced environment is a must. Facility with Spanish also a plus. Must be able to push or pull carts; moderate amount of bending, squatting, lifting, stretching.
