Due to the upcoming retirement of our current Director, the Merrimack Public Library Board of Trustees is accepting applications for the position of Library Director. The Trustees seek a dynamic, visionary, innovative and experienced leader who will continue to develop and strengthen public library services in our community for our 21st century patrons.
With a population of just over 25,000 residents, the town of Merrimack, New Hampshire is conveniently located between the state’s two largest cities, Manchester and Nashua, and is an hour’s drive from Boston. The town established its first public library in 1893 and the current location has been home to the library since 1925.
The Library Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Library operations including the supervision of 22 full and part-time staff. Specific responsibilities would include budget planning and operation, management and reporting, technology planning and implementation, collection development, overseeing the maintenance of the Library building and equipment, and working with Merrimack town officials and others in the community. Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA accredited school with at least five years public library management experience that includes at least three years of successful human resource and financial management responsibilities.
