The Ferguson Library offers a challenging and rewarding work environment. Library service has changed in recent years, so now in addition to providing traditional reference information and maintaining collections, librarians are required to stay on top of evolving information technology. Overview: Provides leadership and coordination in the library’s digital research and education programs, including creation of digital and new/emerging media resources, services, and facilities.

Essential Duties:
1. Coordinate the physical, and lead the virtual, training/education programs as integral components to the library’s TLR enterprises. Participate in library outreach and digital education programs and the programs’ impact and effectiveness assessment on campus and beyond. Participate in physical and virtual research services, including multimedia, bibliographic research, management, and assistance. Leads outreach training surrounding the library’s growing digital resources, access tools, and other pertinent software. Design, produce just-in-time Web-based, individualized tutorials, as well as present and coordinate live online workshops. Train other library staff in this function. May identify and make recommendations for additional software and services surrounding our digital outreach and education programs.
2. Work collaboratively on library outreach and digital TLR programs with IT, ITDP, AMS, CTE, and OAS, and the College’s shared/integrated services (iHelp). Participate in outreach, training, and production related to the libraries’ MediaHub and work closely with the staff in Digital Publishing Services to create and maintain services. Incorporate library resources into Sakai, Sharepoint, and other CMS and LMS systems. Teach workshops for faculty, staff, and students related to use of Library+Commons and MediaHub technology. Investigate methodologies and best practices for creating, promoting, and disseminating student-authored digital content and products. Pursue professional development activities.
3. Coordinate, participate, and assist in all digital research and education initiatives; including research services, collection (virtual and physical) management, recommending purchase of database, electronic resources, and development of Web based instruction materials. Seek opportunities for outreach to library staff, academic/campus departments, students, the HELIN Library Consortium, and the broader profession.

Education and Experience Required:
MS in Instructional Design or Educational Technology or MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience; additional graduate degree/s strongly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in research, instruction and education, online/ synchronous, face to face/synchronous, and hybrid, and assessment of instruction and education programs. Demonstrated expertise integrating traditional and high-tech services, resources and tools for teaching, learning, and research; expertise or high-level proficiency with multiple operating systems and platforms. Demonstrated expertise with and ability to teach pertinent digital media, publishing, and audio and video tools. Technological expertise vis-à-vis the vital relationship between the library’s information technologies and services, instructional technologies and media services, and the technology resources throughout the HELIN consortium. Demonstrated administrative and project management experience and high proficiency. Ability to teach others. Solid interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, with collegial and inclusive style. Expertise in database and internet search and peripherals, including bibliographic tools and utilities.

The City of Keene is seeking an energetic, tech-savvy Librarian II to serve in the newly created position of Digital Services Librarian as part of the Reference team. POSITION:
The Colorado State University Libraries is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented librarian to provide support for the teaching, research, and data management needs of the campus community. The Data Management Librarian is part of a team that leads the development, management, and promotion of campus and cooperative digital collections and repository services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support a scholarly communications program that will provide support services relating to organizing, preserving, and sharing of research data.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will work closely with staff in the Digital Library and ePublishing Services Division and other Libraries’ units to leverage the full range of library expertise and resources in building and managing the consortial digital repository, Digital Collections of Colorado (http://digitool.library.colostate.edu), and its content. This position:
- Contributes to development of policies and procedures; collaborates to develop and implement appropriate metadata strategies to enhance discovery, management, presentation, and preservation of digital collections; develops planning documents and monitors progress for projects; creates new digital collections within the repositories; and collaborates on development of web content, displays, and interfaces.
- Works with Libraries staff and members of other institutions on cooperative digital projects.
- Monitors developments related to digital repositories and services, including new data management approaches and technologies.
- Works with Libraries staff to support and promote repository services.
- Collaborates with the College Liaisons, other librarians, and campus partners to develop and support data services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited program, completed by June 30th, 2013; demonstrated knowledge of one or more digital asset or institutional repository systems (e.g., DigiTool, CONTENTdm, DSpace); demonstrated knowledge of digital technologies, applying digital standards, and employing principles of content description, controlled vocabularies, and appropriate metadata schema/markup standards (including but not limited to MARC21, Dublin Core, METS, MODS, and XML) preferably within an academic setting; ability to work independently and collaboratively within an exciting and rapidly evolving environment; ability to work well with a diverse employee and user community; strong analytical and decision-making skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to meet tenure and promotion criteria.

Preferred: Additional graduate degree in a subject discipline or knowledge of research methods in a subject discipline; demonstrated interest in growing expertise in digital initiatives and technologies as they apply to open access digital repositories, scholarly communication, and data services; knowledge of digital preservation standards and best practices; knowledge of research data lifecycle concepts and issues; experience creating, reviewing, editing, and bulk loading of metadata or content for digital collections; familiarity with data interchange standards (e.g., OAI-PMH); knowledge of the semantic web and linked data; experience with integrated library systems; experience with providing research data services; understanding of best practices in data management; experience with data analytics; experience with consortial collaborations.

ENVIRONMENT:
The Digital Collections of Colorado repository provides management, dissemination, and preservation services for research, scholarship, and creative works of faculty, students, and academic staff from several Colorado institutions of higher education. This rich resource of over 45,000 digital objects also hosts locally digitized collections of selected archival holdings to support teaching and research.

RANK AND SALARY:
Faculty status and responsibilities. Twelve-month tenure-track appointment with contract reviewed annually until tenure is granted. Rank is dependent upon qualifications. Insurance benefits are available for appointments of half-time or greater, and faculty and administrative professionals may select from several options for medical, dental, life, and personal disability insurance, as well as retirement plans. Full-time faculty and administrative professionals earn 24 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave annually. Optional deferred compensation. Job Description:
The Web and Digital Services Specialist’s primary responsibility is to develop and maintain the Library’s website in collaboration with the Librarians and Marketing & Communications staff. The Specialist will select, implement, and assess library digital applications that are related to the delivery of library services. In addition, the Specialist will oversee and ensure the delivery of student multimedia and course-related resource support in collaboration with the departments of Instructional Design, Information Technology, and Media Services.

Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

1. Web Services –

    a. Develop and maintain a dynamic library website
    b. Identify and implement initiatives to maximize effective use of web-based resources
    c. Serve as the key resources agent for the library’s Digital Content Management

Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Web Design/Development, Multi-Media Design, or a related field is required as well as 3-5 years of experience to include the building and/or integration of web applications and content management systems. Candidates must have advanced proficiency with web management software and programming including Drupal, MYSQL, XML, and Javascript. One to three years of supervisory experience is required. A Master’s degree in Web Design, Multi-Media Design, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with higher education and the academic library environment and associated systems is a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – Public Services:
• Acts as librarian-in-charge (LIC) when assigned
• Provides reference services in person and remotely
• Interprets library services and policies to customers in a clear and courteous manner
• Effectively uses and teaches the library’s electronic resources
• Works with patrons to satisfactorily resolve computer and equipment issues
• Maintains a working knowledge of library resources and an awareness of new resources and technologies
• Promotes library services through outreach and public relations efforts where appropriate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Excellent leadership, management, and supervisory skills
• Strong evidence of planning, organizational, and project management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collegially and effectively with diverse groups
• Ability to effectively plan and direct outreach efforts and promote periodicals services
• Experience with integrated automated library systems and OCLC
• Flexibility in prioritizing multiple projects
• Ability to problem-solve
• Knowledge of library collection assessment tools and related computer technology
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• Ability to meet attendance requirements
• Physical ability to push carts and bins loaded with library materials
• Ability to reach and retrieve library materials at high and low shelf heights

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Successful experience with serials mode of an integrated Library system
• Licensing and implementing access to commercial databases and e-journals
• Working knowledge of Open URL linking
• Familiarity with emerging technologies in libraries
• Experience with metadata management systems (such as Innovative Interfaces Millennium, Evergreen, EBSCONET, ProQuest, OCLC Connexion, etc.)
• Familiarity with MARC and non-MARC metadata schemes and evolving standards
• Experience working in a public library setting

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program

Experience: Minimum 3 years of successful experience in the supervision and management of staff in a library setting

Schedule: May include evenings and weekends and working in other departments and locations
