The Library strives to provide exceptional customer service and expanding access to materials, programs, and technology including a world class genealogy and family history library.  MCPL is an independent library district (political sub-division of the State) with a permanent tax rate exclusively dedicated to public library services. MCPL is the largest public library system in the state of Missouri by number of volumes and size of budget.  Its collection ranks among the 100 largest libraries in America, which includes university, public, and private collections. Library staff (600+ FTE’s) serve the District through 34 locations. In 2010-2011, the Library celebrated 4.6 million customer visits and an annual circulation of more than 9 million items. Library programs and services are supported through a $41.9 annual operating budget with 22.5% dedicated to materials purchases and a substantial portion of that being for children’s and teen materials.  Almost half a million residents carry MCPL cards and 39,785 customers participated in the 2012 Summer Reading Program—noted as being one of the nation’s most successful summer reading programs.

Mid-Continent Public Library serves three of the fifteen-county metropolitan area anchored by Kansas City that spans the border between Missouri and Kansas. Responsibilities. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Libraries and is responsible for modeling excellent customer service and providing collaborative leadership to System-wide planning for youth services, including developing policies and procedures for youth services, assisting with programs for youth, assisting with materials selection, planning workshops and in-service sessions, and training in the area of youth services. Qualifications. ALA–accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, a minimum of five years youth services related experience, and a minimum of three years of management or supervisory experience. The successful candidate will also have public library experience, a solid knowledge of children and teen services, the ability to relate and communicate with internal customers as well as developing, promoting and providing external community outreach to agencies and organizations serving children and teens, and technology skills to best develop virtual youth services. A strong collaborative management style and the desire and ability to be part of a “team effort” are essential.

Compensation. The hiring salary range is $55,486-$87,677 with a competitive benefits package.

Position Summary: The Head of Acquisitions librarian manages, plans, and supervises all acquisitions operations by coordinating the procurement and receipt of library materials (print and digital) and reports directly to the Library Director.

HA manages library operations in the absence of the Director. Reviews and approves recommendations by library staff and/or revisions to library policies or programs; submits recommendations to the Director for final approval. HA participates in formulating policies on: service programs, publicity and public relations. HA participates in conducting staff conferences regarding library policies, procedures and techniques. The acquisitions librarian is expected to provide leadership for the formulation of policies and procedures related to ordering and receiving of materials for the seminary/college, ensuring that they follow audit requirements and maximize productivity; to supervise and manage all routine activities in the daily operation of the acquisitions; to manage and expend the acquisitions budget and produce financial reports from the ILS that clearly track monies allocated, encumbered and expended for different types of collections and subject areas; to supervise and manage all activities in ordering and receiving new materials via firm order and/or standing order plans in a consortial purchasing environment; and to collaborate with the faculty in developing the collections. Duties also include supervising student employees for the circulation desk, stack maintenance, and coordinating the assignments and responsibilities with the Library director; computer maintenance and upkeep, and coordinating with Information Technology Services staff on electronic resource implementation and support. HA performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.

Qualifications: The Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS) Library employs four full-time librarians and six student employees. MBTS seeks employees who are active evangelical Christians dedicated to assisting students in developing intellectual integrity, academic excellence, and Christian character as they prepare for vocational Christian ministry. Required ALAaccredited MLS or MLIS degree; entry level position requiring no experience but willingness to embrace the challenge and readiness to learn theological library collections, vendors and material budgets in an academic library; entry level knowledge of cataloging practices and standards, including MARC records management. MBTS Library is a member of the MOBIUS state-wide academic library consortium using Innovative Interfaces Inc. integrated library system. The successful candidate must be capable of lifting boxes of books and assisting with moving library furnishings as anticipated with future library expansion plans.

Salary & Benefits: This is an appointed academic support staff position reporting to the Library Director. Pickler Memorial Library is seeking applications for a grant-funded temporary project archivist to assist the Special Collections and University Archives department with the preparation of the Binford Collection for archival deposit and access. Dr. Lewis Binford (1931-2011) was a leader in the archaeology and anthropology fields and was honored with numerous awards, including the Society for American Archaeologys Lifetime Achievement Award. The Binford Collection is approximately 100 linear feet in size and contains original manuscript and research material, correspondence files, field notes, maps, drawings, audiovisual material, digital files, and artifacts.

Responsibilities include creating a broad finding aid, performing basic preservation activities, including ensuring proper housing of materials and assisting with the transportation of the collection to the archival facility.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree in archival studies or related field preferred. Currently enrolled students or recent graduates of a masters level archival studies program or equivalent are encouraged to apply.

This position requires the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs and will require working with collections which may contain allergens (dust, mold, etc.)

Project Term
This non-benefits eligible position is for approximately three months (12 weeks) with no opportunity for reappointment. On-campus housing may be available (fee applicable). Some flexibility will be given as to start date, but preference will be given to those applicants available for a three month period during May-August 2012.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Digital Data Outreach Librarian will assume overall responsibility for Library outreach to faculty in all disciplines to best determine their digital data management needs. The Digital Data Outreach Librarian will work closely with subject librarians and staff from Digital Library Services, Library Systems, and Library Assessment to best match identified faculty needs with library digital capabilities. The St. Louis Mercantile Library at The University of Missouri-St. Louis invites applications for the position of Curator of the John W. Barriger III National Railroad Library. This is a 12 month non-tenure track faculty appointment. The Curator reports to the Executive Director of the St. Louis Mercantile Library and works in a team-oriented environment to maintain and to promote the Barriger collections and those of the Mercantile Library. The Curator will combine a passion for transportation history with a strong service orientation, public speaking regarding the collection, fund-raising including writing grants and the cultivation of in-kind gifts, and reference and collection development duties. Duties will include researching and writing catalogues; the planning, processing, oversight, arrangement and exhibition of collections; traveling to promote, speak and lecture on behalf of the library; handling inquiries from researchers and the public and serving our campus community. This position requires participation in some evening and weekend events. The person in this position may also assume other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: A graduate degree and a minimum of three years experience in a field relevant to the duties of the position; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong service and collegial, team-focused orientation, and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals, including university faculty, students and staff, visiting scholars, and donors; excellent organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and must be able to negotiate closed stacks to retrieve materials of various weights including those located in off-site locations.
