Job description: Provide library reference service to faculty, staff, students, and other library patrons. Oversee circulation desk activity and supervise student workers. Occasionally assist with other tasks within the User Services Department. This position is for the academic year, excluding certain breaks and holidays. Hours needed are Sundays from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Required: MLS degree or MLS degree candidate (a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge skills and experience are acquired may be considered). Experience working in a library, academic library experience preferred. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Experience providing the full range of professional reference services, using electronic resources and traditional reference materials. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and basic technical troubleshooting.

The Morse Institute Library is seeking a Reference Librarian-Webmaster for a benefited permanent position at 30 hours a week.

Reference Librarian- Webmaster. 

Job responsibilities include:  print and online reference service in person, by phone or electronically; readers advisory; webmaster for library website; computer troubleshooting and computer assistance to library users. The person in this position will also assist in the format, design, and coding of library websites and services content and perform basic troubleshooting of web services and assist with the maintenance of web applications.

The successful candidate will be proficient with information technology and electronic databases, and have demonstrated skills with best practices in reference work at a busy public library reference desk.  Must have a genuine commitment to excellent customer service and be a team player with excellent communication skills, patience, sense of humor, tact and timeliness.  Must be flexible, innovative and have knowledge of current trends in libraries, publishing and technology.

Desired qualifications

  •  Two to four years work experience using (X)HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to publish web content, including editing code by hand.
  • Experience using web editing software such as Dreamweaver or similar applications.
  • Experience using Photoshop or similarly robust image editing applications. Additional familiarity editing video and audio preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting basic back-end web site issues.
  • Experience in computer networking, computer hardware and software installations and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable presenting in front of a group
  • Proficiency in working with a variety of e-book devices and their apps
  • Is comfortable working independently as well as collaborating with a group

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited institution.  1-3 years experience in reference at a public library preferred.

Starting salary is $26.973/hour for 30 hours per week, with generous benefits

Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College is seeking an energetic, service-oriented library professional for the part-time dual position of Reference/Cataloging Librarian.

This position is approximately 20 hours per week, split between the Reference and Cataloging departments. During the fall and spring semesters, the majority of hours are dedicated towards reference duties. A Sunday afternoon/evening shift is required during the academic year. During holiday and summer breaks, the majority of hours are dedicated towards cataloging. This position reports to the Head of Reference and Instructional Services and the Head of Cataloging for corresponding duties.

Cataloging duties involve all aspects of cataloging and database maintenance, including new and retrospective online cataloging of publications in all formats, quality control, policy documentation, and ongoing special projects as needed.

Required Skills:
Recent experience providing reference services in an academic library environment, along with a working knowledge of major research resources used in academic libraries. Current working knowledge of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and Classifications (LCC). Ability to manage and prioritize projects. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience in academic cataloging using OCLC Connexion and a web-based library system is preferred.

This position requires a master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program.

Position Details: We are looking for either a graduate from an accredited library school or an individual who is close to graduating who can work at least 3 days a week. Prior law firm experience in a library setting is highly preferred.
