Part-time temporary position for GSLIS student research assistant to work on archives book in Spring 2012. This position is grant funded at $15.00 per hour for 130 hrs. Ideally the RA will work one day ( 6 or 7 hrs) a week with Profs. Bastian and Webber.

Tasks include the following:
-Transcribing interview tapes
-Coding transcriptions for key data and anonymity
-Creating a database from the transcription/coding
-Organizing logistics for interviews and focus group
-Assisting in compiling and annotating a bibliography
-Researching and obtaining copyright clearances

Requirements:
Proficiency in database creation and management; good organizational skills, familiarity with archival terminology; experience with transcription or oral history preferred but not required.

Position Title: Temporary Research Assistant, Part-time

Description of Duties:Immediate need for a GSLIS student with experience in business research or having completed LIS430, to assist the Associate Director of Advancement Information Systems & Services in researching individuals’ assets, public and private business information, international parents and alumni, and philanthropic trends via on-line licensed services, the alumni database, and public web sites.  Minor administrative work may be needed.

Qualifications: Experience with Excel is preferable.  On-line search skills are essential. Attention to detail, the ability to gather, synthesize and deliver information in a timely manner, and the ability to work independently is critical for this position.
