Friday, January 28th, 2011For those of you who are planning to attend the upcoming ARLIS/NA and VRA Annual Conference in Minneapolis this March, there is an opportunity to participate in a year long mentoring program that will be kicking off with an initial mandatory training program at the conference on Thursday, March 24th from 8 a.m. to Noon. Opportunities at Local Museums
Saturday, January 22nd, 2011As everyone is preparing for the start of Spring semester, I wanted to highlight a couple of job opportunities currently available at local art museums.
First, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum currently has a full-time archivist position available. For more information, check out the museum’s website.
The ICA is also currently looking for interns to work in the museum’s art library/archive. More information on job duties and how to apply is available on the ICA’s website.
Also, looking ahead, summer internships at the MFA should be posted on the internship webpage around February 7th.
Summer Internship Opportunities
Monday, January 17th, 2011Now that Spring semester is right around the corner, deadlines are fast approaching for a number of summer internship opportunities. Two internships that are still open for application are listed below.
The Baseball Hall of Fame: The Baseball Hall of Fame offers internships in a number of library, archive and museum related fields, including internships in the Collections, Curatorial and Research Department. One internship position that may be of particular interest to Panopticon member is in the Photo Archive Department working on a range of projects related to the Hall of Fame’s photographic collections. The deadline to apply is January 31st. Links to information on the internship, including positions available and information on scholarships and stipends can be found on the internship program website.
Smithsonian Libraries: The Smithsonian Institution Libraries offer paid summer internships for graduate students interested in museum libraries. This year they are offering a number of internship options including an internship on Artists’ Books at the Smithsonian Institutions Libraries. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis before March 1st. More information is available on the SIL Professional Development Internship website.
