Yes, we can accept credit cards, as well as electronic bank payments and checks.
If for any reason a workshop must be canceled, you will be notified, and your money will be returned.
If you need to make travel arrangements (transportation, lodging, etc.) in order to attend an onsite workshop, please note that we do not refund these travel costs if a workshop is canceled for any reason. Please use caution making non-refundable reservations.
Cancellations by registrants must be received by email five business days prior to the workshop date in order to receive either a 70 percent refund (The Office of Continuing Education retains 30 percent of the course cost as a nonrefundable registration processing fee) or a full credit to be used for another workshop.
Where is the SLIS CE office?
The SLIS CE office is located in the Palace Road building, room P-111K. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Where is the SLIS Library?
The SLIS Library is located on the first floor of Beatley Library.
What is the difference between CEUs and PDPs?
SLIS CE workshops are measured by Contact Hours. Each hour in the classroom (or online) equals one contact hour. Individual states and their school districts use different terms to record these contact hours. In Massachusetts, ONE contact hour is equivalent to 0.1 CEUs (Continuing Education Units). It is also equivalent to 1.0 PDPs (Professional Development Points).
CEUs — All enrolled attendees will receive a Certificate of Continuing Education Units from the instructor at the end of the workshop (online workshop attendees will receive their certificates by mail).
PDPs — Simmons College provides Professional Development Points according to the MA Department of Education requirements for certification, revised as of 7/1/00.
How do online workshops work?
Our online workshops are asynchronous, which means you can do the work on your own time, whenever is convenient for you. Some instructors will post all the materials at the beginning of the workshop, and some will post incrementally over the course of the workshop, but all require regular participation. Occasionally, instructors will schedule online group chats, but these will be scheduled around participants' other obligations and every effort will be made to ensure that everyone can participate.
