Life after Simmons College

Catherine met her future husband, Carl Jensen, while he was a Seaman in the U. S. Navy and studying at MIT. They were married on February 20, 1946. Life as a Navy wife took her to many places in and outside the United States. Eventually Catherine and Carl settled in Seattle, Washington to raise their family.

While in Seattle, Catherine and her husband raised two children, and Catherine started her career as a music specialist teacher in a multicultural community. In 1988, she was nominated for Washington State Award of Excellence in Education in honor of her demonstrated leadership, contributions to the field, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Always looking for new ways to stimulate her mind, after retiring from teaching, Ms. Jensen went on to pursue a doctorate from the University of Washington, and continues to teach private voice and piano lessons.
